Our motto reflects our humanist, progressive outlook and beliefs in an equalitarian ideal where we all exchange knowledge, learn and teach from each other in a continuum.

Inspired by the 18th-century Academies and Literary Salons, the CIRCOLO ILLUMINISTA will promote intellectual, philosophical gatherings of like-minded people, akin to a conference but in an intimate and relaxed way, accompanied by good food and wine.

​

Residential meetings will congregate a small number of guests and run over the weekend.

Each meeting will be centred around specifically chosen themes and include a guest keynote speaker who will be lodged with all the guests at the palace.

​

An open call for submissions will be published and participants will be selected to the intimate gatherings by application. We'll prioritise participants who may actively contribute with a talk, demonstration or debate. Themes might orbit around the arts (music, dance, drama, media and fine arts), architecture & gardening, history, and philosophy.

The Circolo Illuminista aims to offer an alternative to academic conferences, by providing the platform for academics, practitioners and amateurs alike to congregate in an immersive weekend with time for productive debate, thinking and enlightenment.

​

Appropriately balanced with relaxing and convivial time, each weekend will include a half-day tour to a historical site pertinent to each theme, around Piemonte and Liguria.
